What kind GACC registrations are required for overseas food manufacturers?

  

 

Please note: For Manufacturers GACC registration, Each of the food category requires a separate GACC registration number, Each facility address requires a separate GACC registration number !
For each type of GACC registration, Requirements for GACC registration application documents,GACC registration process, GACC registration approval time,  GACC registration cost, CRA service fee, etc. are all different !

We often receive urgent inquiries from overseas exporters/manufacturers:
"We already have GACC registration number; but when the goods arrived Chinese port for customs clearance , they were rejected. The China Customs officer said that our GACC registration number was incorrect. What's wrong with our GACC registration number ?"
The main reason for these problems is that overseas exporters / manufacturers don't know Different food categories need to apply for different types of GACC registration.
Some manufacturers even use the voided GACC registration number (formerly AQSIQ registration number) to apply for China Customs clearance,of course it will be rejected;

Different food categories need to apply for different types of China GACC registration, There are 5 types GACC registrations:
1. GACC registration for overseas manufacturers of Low risk food ( GACC-1-1 type)
2. GACC registration for overseas manufacturers of Medium risk food ( GACC-1-2 type)
3. GACC registration for overseas manufacturers of High risk food ( GACC-1-3 type)
4. General GACC registration for overseas exporters of imported food ( GACC-2-1 type)
5. GACC-CIQ registration for Chinese importers of imported food ( GACC-3-1 type)

    Note  
  • Require an additional recommend registration procedure by the competent authority of the country of origin
  • This type GACC registration process is very complicated, and the cost depends on the type of Facility and foods, usually be quoted by staff;
  • Require producers have food safety management system (such as, HACCP, GMP,BRC, SQF, Freshcare, ISO 22000,etc.)
  • For some production facilities, GACC-CNCA maybe arrange site-inspection;
  • Each production facility and cold storage facility needs to apply for a separate GACC registration number;
  • If the manufacturer wants to directly export to China, it also needs to apply GACC registration for exporter ;

    ☼  2022 New 18 digits GACC registration number for overseas manufacturers

    From 2022, the GACC registration number for oversears manufacturer is upgraded to 18 digits,

    This GACC register No. needs to be printed on the Chinese label of imported food , then can pass the China Customs Clearance.

    The old 10-digit registration number for overseas food manufacturers (also known as the old AQSIQ registration number), has been invalidated
